Dennis Slater is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based IT manager with experience in a range of sectors and settings, including manufacturing companies, healthcare organizations, banks, and financial services firms. Early in his career, He served as the lead data and integration architect at Merrill Lynch, where he was tasked with leading design efforts for a new securities trade backbone system. He also helped Fifth Third Bank develop its SWIFT gateway, which provided the regional bank with an on-ramp to the global banking network.

Mr. Slater spent more than a decade in various capacities at Ford. He joined the company as a data programmer and later worked as a software engineer, data engineer, and architect. Among other accomplishments, he was part of the team that developed Ford’s first enterprise software systems. More recently, Mr. Slater worked as a system and data architect at Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. He spent five years with the company and developed an enterprise system that managed information for more than 4,000 trains per day on 35,000 miles of track.

Complementing more than three decades of IT leadership experience, Dennis Slater is versed in all major commercial SQL database server products (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, etc.) in addition to open-source products (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Derby). Moreover, he has more than two decades of experience using programming languages C, C++, Python, and Java, among many others.
